Logo Development Process
LOGO DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
Usually the process begins with a clients preconceived idea or vision which helps to expedite the process. However, sometimes the client is not even sure of the name they plan to use. In the project pictured, the image of the logo helped to dictate the company name from 'Scoops', to 'Fruit Scoops', to 'Frost Bites'. Once the name is decided, then the desired energy the logo needs to project will be considered.
If the business is a spa, the logo should project serenity, and calm and a soothing atmosphere. If the logo is for a product that is targeted to women, perhaps it should project a softer, feminine look. Services, food, toys will target different audiences so various colors, design elements, and fonts will need to be explored.
Color plays an important part in developing a logo. Before determining color, it is best to discuss budget. Multiple colors will usually cost more to reproduce than a one or two color logo. Background color should also be considered a color when reproducing for newsprint, magazine layout, packaging and signs.
Logo format, whether horizontal or vertical, is also a consideration. The primary application and placement of the logo is important if it will be used on packaging, web site headers, signs, etc. A simple, bold, or complex design may determine the size.
These factors and more need to be considered when creating an enduring logo.

Budget constraints are considered during the design process, and consideration is given to adaptability of design elements for future marketing collateral such as signs, packaging, apparel, labels, advertising, etc. Items listed below may be substituted, for example, a hang tag may be substituted for a letterhead. Business Package: $1,500 - Logo, Business Card, Letterhead, Envelope
Copyright Release and multiple format files on CD or thumb drive: $500
Deposit Required. Additional promotional items at $60 per hour.
CUSTOM ILLUSTRATION
Epoch Design offers computer generated illustration as well as traditional methods of custom illustration using Prisma colors, pen and ink, painting techniques in acrylics or watercolor, pastel, charcoal, and graphite. Technical illustration and digital photography are also available. (see ILLUSTRATION section)
Price is based on size, complexity of project, and time involved, but
not more than $75 per hour. Deposit required.
APPAREL & PROMO CONVERSION GRAPHICS
Quick turn-around for ad speciality companies! Epoch Design will take that JPG and turn it into a vector file for spot color separation reproduction. (see T-SHIRT section)
Price is based on size, complexity of project, and time involved, but
not more than $35 per hour.
